We're back

As promised, we're back at the GoGo Club (upstairs at the Royal Oak, Union Street) on Friday May 4th. We will be playing some of our old favourites, plus a load of new songs, four of which will be on the new CD we will be putting out in the summer.

We've decided to return to the GoGo Club as the last time we played there, the sound was great and we had a really good night, courtesy of a nice mix of tunes played by DJ Greg.

Hopefully, we will see as many of you there as last time,.and for those who didn't make it, give the place a go, its a great night out.

I believe that its £3 entry, with a free shot.

See you there,

Paul

Hi

Many thanks to those who turned up at the Wagon and Horses, it was a really good night. We managed to play 23/24 songs in 2 sets, which is double our normal showtime, but we very much enjoyed it. We also brought back some old songs, which went down really well. Thanks also to Baz from the Crashmats who did the DJing for us and putting on a good mix of quality tunes.

Due to personal commitments and the fact that we've now played a staggering 8 gigs in 15 years (!), thats it from us in 2011, but we should be looking at playing again in March next year. We'll also look at recording a new CD, as we're down to the last few of the last one.

I'll update on here if there any major developments, otherwise over and out.

Paul.

Going Going Gone

The GoGo Club was great! It was a nice little venue and we will definately come back. We played a couple of new numbers including the Cutting Crew's "I just died in your arms tonight" which I've always thought would have been perfect for a punk cover. We also dusted the cobwebs off the King's "Hound Dog" which we haven't played for a long time.

It was a great gig all in all. Many thanks to Greg, who clearly cares about getting a good sound from his bands, as our sound was spot on. Also, thanks to the loads who turned up again; I can't beleive the number who always turm up and watch us, it is genuinely appreciated.

Not sure now what we are going to do for the rest of the year, we have been offered a couple of gigs, but I'm not sure if we'll be able to do them, as Suggsy is off to China in December, and we're really busy with other things. If not, we'll be looking at playing again January/February next year.

I'll update this place with any news, until then,

Up the Rhubarb.

Go go at the go go club

Many thanks to those who came to JP. We played really well and enjoyed ourselves like it was 94 all over again! I’m glad to say that the sound was spot on so cheers to the guys at JP for getting us to sound good. We’re on again on October 1st at the GoGo Club at the Royal Oak, Union Street Oldham, and we’ll take the stage at 9.30ish, so see you then!

2 dates added

After a few months of doing pretty much bugger all, we're back with a couple of gigs.

On Friday 9th September we're back on at "Jacksons Pit" and on Saturday 1 October we're playing at "the GoGo Club" (Upstairs at the Royal Oak, 178 Union Street, Oldham).

More updates to come near the time.

May Update

Unfortunately, the May gig we had was cancelled due to the venue no longer being in business. Maybe if they had stayed in business, then we could have kept them afloat!

We're looking for a couple of lower key support slots at the moment, where we will try out some new material we've been working on including a great new original Matt penned song "My Enemy" which sounds as strong, if not stronger, than anything we've done before.

We'll also freshen our set of punky cover versions of 80/90s pop songs, as Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" has had more live showings than any of our own material!

Hopefully, I'll be on in the next couple of weeks with details of confirmed dates, as with the football season now over (the mighty latics finished 17th in league one), I need something to do in my spare time!

New vids from the Abbey gig.....

I've posted a load of vids from the last gig we played at The Abbey Inn Oldham. Check em out y'all!

The Abbey

The Abbey was great and we enjoyed our first show of 2011. It was great to play at a new place and we went down really well. The only downside was the electric shocks we kept getting from the microphones.... That aside, we played really well, had loads of positive comments and hopefully picked up a few new people who will hopefully come and watch us next time.

We also enjoyed the fact that there was a sizeable "neutral" crowd who watched us play in addition to the usuals who come to watch us, so many thanks for the great reception we got.

Cheers also to Jamie at the Abbey who will put us on again, although we'll probably not come back until later in the year as we're looking at other places to play this year.

The new songs "Revolution 2011" and "Sick" went down really well and we're really happy with a newish song "Something I'm not", which we've finally turned into the song we wanted it to be.

We've definately got some videos coming up, which I will add to the site soon!

Rhubarb Return March 25th 2011

The Rhubarb are back, playing at the Abbey, March 25th on a Friday night. Free entry, and a good show is guaranteed.

Practice has been sporadic over xmas and the New Year, but I'm sure we'll be ready for this one, and we're looking at bringing back one or two old Rhubarb classics from the early-mid 90s, which have been modernised, in view of the fact that we can play an awful better than did back then.

Will be great to play next door to our old spirtitual home of the Shack, which unfortunately lies in a sad state of disrepair.

See you there, for what will be a great night, Up the Rhubarb.

Update January 2011.

We've got 2 gigs now booked for 2011 and we'll no doubt be looking at playing some more.I'll add these to the gig section on here. We've had a bit of break due partly to Suggs being outside of the UK with work, but we'll get going with practicing again next week and we'll be trying out some new songs.

Finally, many thanks to those ever presents who attended every gig we did in 2010, off the top of my head Tony and your brother, Tommy, Luke & Stacey, Chris, Emma and Vicky, my parents and Danny from the Crashmats. Four out of four is pretty impressive and your friendship and support has been brilliant. Sincere apologies if I've left anyone off.

See you at the Abbey, Oldham in March.
